Growth Scenario of The GNSS Chip Market broadens with the growing trend of innovation.

Published : 27 June, 2018

GNSS is the umbrella term that includes all the Global satellite positioning systems. Global Positioning System (GPS) of the U.S.A. is a component of the GNSS. Other global components include GLONASS of Russia and Galileo of the European Union. The regional satellite systems include BeiDou of China, Indian Regional Navigation Satellite (IRNS) of India and the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) of Japan.

The GNSS consists of 3 major segments: -

  1. Space – This segment consists of GNSS satellites orbiting around 20,000 km from the earth’s surface. Each satellite broadcasts a signal that identifies it and provides its time, orbit and status.
  2. Ground – Also called as the control segment. It comprises of ground-based networks of receivers. This segment tracks the satellites and provides them with periodic updates.
  3. User – This segment consists of receivers which process the received signals from the satellites to derive and apply location and time information. The equipment’s in this segment are smartphones, handheld receivers etc.

Global Navigation Satellite System is an umbrella term of various systems such as GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, QZSS, NAVIC, BeiDou at different countries. Global Positioning System (GPS) U.S.A was designed in 1960’s for military and defense systems due to Cold War. Today GPS is widely used for different purposes such as finding a route for drivers, climate studies, earthquake research, map-making and many other services.

The Global GNSS market is witnessing steady growth. The new emerging trends in the GNSS market by segments are Road, Rail, Aviation, Agriculture, Surveying etc

The Global GNSS Chip Market is expected to reach USD XX Billion by 2023 from USD XX Billion in 2017, at a CAGR of XX% from 2018 to 2023. The factors majorly driving the GNSS Chip market are rising adoption in smartphones. The market is analyzed across four geographical regions, namely, North America (U.S., Canada, and Mexico), Europe (UK, Germany, France and rest of Europe), Asia-Pacific (China, Japan, India and rest of Asia-Pacific), and RoW (Latin America, Middle East, and Africa). Asia-Pacific holds the highest market about XX% of total market share. Whereas North America is the fastest growing region with the CAGR of XX%.

The GNSS Chip market is segmented on the basis of By Receiver, Product, Application, and Industry Sector and by Region. There are four types of product in GNSS Chip Market, Smartphones, Tablets, In-Vehicle System and Wearable Devices. In which Smartphones holds the largest market share.
